Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten at Elyon School & Child Care

If you are a Florida resident and your child is four (4) before September 1, then prepare your child for kindergarten by registering for Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) at Elyon School and Child Care:

Elyon School and Child Care VPK program prepares your child for academic excellence in kindergarten and beyond regardless of the child's current level of skills or knowledge. At the end of our program children usually show competence in the following areas:

  • Identifying the letters of the English alphabet
  • Phonics
  • Reading and writing skills
  • Number recognition
  • Counting to at least 31
  • Identifying and manipulating two-dimensional shapes (eg. circle, square, triangle)
  • Identifying and manipulating three-dimensional shapes (eg. sphere, cone, cube)
  • Sorting
  • Measuring
  • Following directions
  • Appropriate interaction with adults and peers
  • Follows simple classroom rules and routines
  • Uses eye‐hand coordination to perform tasks

1. Make an appointment to obtain a VPK Certificate of Eligibility

2. Take the following documents to the appointment:

  • Valid photo ID
  • Child’s Birth Certificate
  • Proof of residence (example driver's license or electric bill)
  • Completed VPK Application form or the Application Confirmation Page if you complete the VPK Application form online.
